Reliable, efficient rail infrastructure is essential for keeping Vermont connected, supporting economic growth and maintaining safe transit for both passengers and freight. As the state continues to prioritize modern, resilient transportation systems, Xվ������ is extending its longstanding working relationship with the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans). With more than 25 years of experience working together, Xվ������ will again apply its deep knowledge of railroad engineering and design to strengthen Vermont’s rail network through a newly awarded recompete contract.

Rail improvements under this contract will enhance operational safety and create lasting benefits for Vermont communities. A well-maintained rail system helps reduce roadway congestion, providing residents and businesses with an efficient alternative for travel and freight movement. As Vermont continues its commitment to sustainability, investing in rail infrastructure presents an environmentally responsible solution—reducing carbon emissions and offering a cleaner mode of transportation compared to highway expansion.

Xվ������ will assist VTrans in developing designs for railroad bridges, culverts, slopes, railroad-highway crossings and Amtrak stations and platforms. The team will also provide project management, engineering, bridge inspection, construction, load rating, environmental permitting, right-of-way and bidding services. With deep familiarity with VTrans’ needs and procedures, Xվ������ is positioned to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions that keep projects on schedule while advancing the state’s rail program through leadership and innovation.

Beyond infrastructure improvements, this contract also strengthens Vermont’s ability to respond to emergencies and extreme weather events. Xվ������ will provide bridge and rail infrastructure inspections, bridge rehabilitations and replacements, emergency inspections, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) projects, emergency repair work and bridge load rating evaluations. These efforts help Vermont’s rail network remain resilient and adaptive, providing uninterrupted service and safeguarding communities that rely on these transit systems.
